Day 1
July 7th, 2007

It's a go !

<< journée précédente / day before           following day /  journée suivante >>

After 7 years waiting and 5 years preparing, we're on the road, at last!

US Customs...Think we're a little nervous? Actually, we're shaking, litterally!
Can you imagine, all this preparation, 50 hours of driving, only to be turned around at the border?

Being Canadians, we are considered as foreigners, so it could happen...My Shrink says it's normal to be more afraid of customs than bears...

But we're well prepared. We have all the necessary paperwork, the quads have the required equipments and, after about an hour of questions and verifications, we get the green light.

After saying our last Good Byes to Matt and Emilie, we watch the truck go back to Canada...

What an undiscribable feeling...France dries a few tears...Marc's heart beats like a (Metallica) drum...

Now it's for real! This is it!

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS !!

Yeah ! That's one custom taken care of !
Yeah ! OK - Next step, the Mexican customs...
Bof... The separation.
Bof... Sniff...Sniff... Not easy to say good bye to friends and families for a year...

Ouff...Now, at last, the pressure goes down.

We litterally pile up our stuff on the bikes, we're right in the middle of a heat wave, it's 108 degrees in the burning sun!

Here's our first destination: The first and last chance bar.
As promised, Larry, the first cold one for you!

One Coors lite later, we're on the road to our first camp site.

Fantastic!

Our first site will be Rexford Bench, on beautiful lake Koocanusa.

Quiz: Who can tell us what Koocanusa means? Write us with the answer!

At 10:30 pm. a little swim (it's still daylight and 75 degrees), then our first night in Montana. Just like in our dreams, it's warm, and we can sleep with both awnings opened. France opens an eye every now and then to check out the lake and mountains.

We just went from dream to reality. Good night!
