Day 10 to 14
July 16th to the 20th, 2007 |
Wallace, Idaho.
Wallace: Historical mining town.
Formerly the silver capital of the world, other talents used to be exploited here. At
one point, the city had no less than 11 open bordelos! There's even a museum on the
subject.
Some restaurants don't take themselves too seriously! Here's the Red light Garage: (Red
light here has nothing to do with the red light district...)
Humm...You sure we should eat here?
Well, it was a cool place after all!
Guess in Wallace, nobody takes himself seriously...except the city!!
Check out that blue sign...Click here to

Yes! You saw right!
Welcome to the Center of the Universe! Located
at the intersection of Bank and Sixth Streets in historic downtown Wallace, Idaho, is the
"Probalistic Center of the Universe." Be seen with friends, family or even the
local wildlife and forevermore be able to proclaim that you have stood at the Center of
the Universe and survived to tell about it.
The Center of the Universe monument was officially dedicated by His Honor, Wallace
Mayor Ron Garitone, September 25th, 2004.

People come from all over the place for the High Mountain ATV Jamboree.
We've met folks from California, Oregon, Washington State, Montana, Illinois and all over
Idaho...
It's a great place to meet people who like to travel long distance on quads.
Here's Mr. Don Wasser, 72, From Illinois. He left Reno Nev. on his quad with his travel
partner Nathan. they traveled over 3500 miles including many detours to get here. Don is
getting ready to head back to Reno where his pick-up is waiting for him.
Unusual but very practical, his little house on wheels can be used anywhere, in town or
elsewhere. Nothing to set-up or to take down, he sleeps inside!
Curious? Have a peek in here.
Here's Nathan Beck. A mile eater. To him the 3500 miles rode yet are just an appetizer!
He want's to go to Sturgis, S.-Dakota before heading south towards the Mexican border
where he'll turn around and head back to Reno. Unlike us, Nate prefers roads over trails.
And, Here's Sadie, his inseparable friend.
AHHH.. With the evening comes a short but quite heavy down pour. Even Sadie is ready
for it! By the way this is the first rain we've seen since we began riding.

Keep smiling even in the rain. |
A fellow walks by staring at our tent. Terry tells us he has an identical tent
(only bigger) set up on a larger trailer. His outfit is superb, but too large to be hauled
by a quad.
Pretty neat!
After looking at our set-up, he thinks he'll get a smaller trailer built...To put his
tent on.
Today, there's all kinds of sickness...
Yeah ! Front page!

We are headline news! |
Bof... |
Camping in town ... |
|
We're camped in the middle of the action, in town. It's nice
to meet people from all over the place but, being a few feet away from the main road used
by heavy haulers, we must sleep with ear plugs. Our equipment is more suited for
backcountry camping. |

Wow! We're on front page.

Another hot day
Many quad lovers meeting at the visitor center for a pizza dinner...
The next day, we go on a ride with a few new friends, Dave, James, Paulie, Gary, Blair
and Crissanne.
We could be riding for a month just exploring trails and forest roads around Wallace
only, imagine all of Idaho!
Is there light at the end of the tunnel?
The old railroad bed, now used as a forest road, goes through several tunnels. Cool!
Always spectacular sceneries.
We've spent numerous hours every day to answer e-mails and to update the website. It's
exciting to see the peoples' interest in what we do...
BUT NOW, OUR THUMBS ARE ITCHING...
WE WANT TO GO RIDING...
SOON, MORE ACTION...TO BE CONTINUED...
