Waking up to a bright sunshine!
Quick, early morning bear check: no Yogis around the food supply, cool!
Better than reality TV, it's ''nature-realty''. Witnessing the building of a beaver
dam, live.
Inviting...
As is the case in most of the places we visited in Quebec, there's a ton of very nice
spots to stop at for a break, between Quevillon and Lac Faillon.
At lake Faillon...
...It's time for a refreshing break...(read: beer break)
In remote areas, it's nice to know that some innkeepers are ready and willing to help
you if you need gas.
Superb!
The new owners welcome Quad users, wich is not the case everywhere.
You can't miss the entrance to the Abitibi region. (Note that we cheated a little bit
here, we were actually leaving the Senneterre Area).
Guess you can't always find the most exotic place to pitch a tent. Here somewhere
between Lake Faillon and Clova, an old gravel pit will have to do for the night...
About 30 seconds after shutting off the engines, we can hear them coming... We can't
see them, but we can hear them...They're hungry, they're blood thirsty, they want to eat
us alive! They're here now, thousands, millions of them...Mosquitoes...Mommyyyyy!
NOTICE:
VERY IMPORTANT TRICK!
How to prevent beer can puncture:
Use ''anti-skid mats'' (found at any RV dealer), that you will cut in 10 in. by 4 in.
lengths, then wrap them around your cans. Hold them in place with a rubber band.
Guaranteed results. These mats are shock and vibration absorbant, no more mess.
Take this trick one step further and colour code your mats to identify your drinks.
(Not necessary if you only carry beer...)
For example: White for lemonade, black for cola, green for beer. |
