Region 4, Mauricie: Clova, Parent. |
September 15 & 16th, 2006
At the crack of dawn, we gear up. Let's get out of here before the mosquitoes wake up!
No time for pictures, we pack it up and fly.
Luckily, they did'nt seem to follow us...I imagine we simply picked up the wrong spot
to camp last night!
It's soooo much more enjoyable without the bugs! We can really relax and enjoy the
superb trails ahead of us.
Too bad we did'nt keep rolling for a little bit yesterday, right here would have been a
perfect spot for the night. What can you do? It's always hard to decide when to stop, you
might be stopping short of the ideal spot you've been looking for...
We are leaving Abitibi to enter the fourth and last region we'll visit: La Mauricie
Welcome to Clova! Over here, it's somewhat the same concept as in Miquelon: All in one,
except that the towns population is almost 4 times bigger. That's about 40 !
Can you read the name on the sign? Yes, it's Clovas' Ski-doo dealer!! Confidence
inspiring...
The good thing about these small towns is that you don't have to spent a whole lot of
time to visit them. C'mon Honey, let's go to Parent!
After many miles on more or less marked trails, we end up on a forest road with
absolutely no indications...It's the return of the GPS festival....After trying one road
that ended up in a dead end, we turn around and it's on our way back that we notice the
small arrows that indicate the trail. They were simply installed on the back of the road
signs...Pretty clever...
Following a caucus, the decision is unanimously made to take "the large
trail" to Parent...Yahoooo!
After a liitle more than a year, we're to Parent and our favorite spot is available.
Yessss!!
So we decide to celebrate with a little cold one, and then another, and then another...
Parent. After more than 15 year of quadding, last year was our first time here and now,
we feel like coming back every year
Yeah ! A whole day without
riding.
|
Leaves us enjoying
the scenery surrounding.
It's quite a blessing. |
Bof... |
We're getting closer... |
|
Tomorrow we'll be back in region 1 and possibly even back to
camp...and that means the end of the ride...Sniff...Sniff... |
|
|
Today, september 16th, 2006, we awake to the morning fog...Or maybe it's just a side
effect from the few cold ones...
Skies are clearing, it'll be a perfect day to relax, do a bit of maintenance (oil
change)....
...Scrape off a layer of dust (read: take a shower...). and treat ourselves to fire
grilled steaks and a bottle of good wine (whatever the brand, in the woods, they're all
good...). Check out the master of fire at his best...
Hummmm!! Lookin' good!!
After a well deserved break and a great meal washed down with a just as great wine, the
best thing to do is to test the trailers' landing gear. Tonight's the
night...Honeyyyyy.....
To take a good hot shower, just fill the
vinyl pouch with water from the lake or river, let it sit in the sun for a few hours and,
voilà!
Seriously, it'll warm up water really nicely and, if you use a reasonnable amount of
water, there'll be enough for two shwers.
When your ready to leave, you can just fold it or roll it and it'll take very little
room in your luggage. |
AAAhhh...Feels good...
